On Tuesday 1st of April, a team of four Year 6 students from our school took part in the Synergy Solar Car Challenge at Southern River College. A collaboration between Synergy and the Science Teachers’ Association of WA (STAWA), this is an annual competition for Year 6 and Year 8 students to design, build, and race solar-powered cars. The event aims to inspire students to become future leaders in energy innovation.
Tahlia, Penny, Matilda, and Rachel worked brilliantly together, designing and racing their solar car against other Year 6 teams. They competed in two races, their car got off to a strong start and led in both races before being overtaken. While they didn’t advance to Round 2, the team remained positive. Overall, it was a fun educational experience, and the girls gained invaluable skills in engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork. A huge congratulations to Tahlia, Penny, Matilda, and Rachel for their hard work and enthusiasm.
