A Message From Our Principal

A great start to the year

Dear parents/carers,

It’s wonderful to welcome everyone back for what promises to be a productive and engaging year at Bibra Lake Primary School. We’ve hit the ground running, and I’d like to take this opportunity to share some key updates and upcoming events as we work together to support every child’s learning journey.

At Bibra Lake Primary School, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Schooling plays a vital role in shaping confident, capable learners, and we are committed to ensuring every student achieves success. We know that regular attendance, consistent routines, and strong school-home partnerships are key to helping students reach their full potential.

Our focus on high-quality teaching and learning remains central to our work, particularly in the foundational years. Our whole-school literacy approach is making a significant difference in student outcomes. The InitiaLit program, implemented from Pre-Primary to Year 2, has been instrumental in building strong reading and phonics skills. Combined with MiniLit as an early intervention strategy, we are seeing consistent growth in student achievement. The positive impact of these programs is reflected in our data, showing steady improvement across the early and junior years.

NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5 will commence in Week 6, and we are focused on preparing students to succeed with confidence. In addition, On-Entry Assessments for our Pre-Primary students are underway, providing valuable baseline data to guide teaching and ensure each student receives the support they need.

Early School Closure – Parent-Teacher Interviews
We value strong school-home connections and know that communication is key to supporting student success. On Wednesday, 19 March, the school will close early at 12.00pm to allow time for Parent-Teacher Interviews. This is an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and how we can work together to support their learning. More details on how to book appointments will be sent out shortly.

We are proud of the strong sense of community at Bibra Lake Primary and encourage all parents to get involved. This term, we look forward to key events, including:

  • Parent-Teacher Interviews – Wednesday, 19 March (early closure)
  • Harmony Day Celebrations – Friday, 21 March

Our popular lunch-time clubs have also returned, offering students a range of options including Maker Club, Origami Club, Board Games, and Jump Jam. These clubs provide great opportunities for students who enjoy creative and social indoor activities during break times.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Let’s make 2025 another year of connection, learning, respect, and responsibility — the core values that define Bibra Lake Primary School.

Warm regards,
