A Message from our Principal

As we approach the end of another incredible school year, I’m excited to share the amazing achievements and progress we’ve made at Bibra Lake Primary School in 2024. Our school community has much to celebrate, thanks to the dedication of our staff, the engagement of our students, and the invaluable support of our families. Here are some of the highlights:

Academic Excellence

  • Outstanding NAPLAN Results: Our Year 5 students have excelled, consistently outperforming Like Schools in Reading, Writing, and Spelling. Across all subjects, we’ve seen significant improvements for Years 3 and 5.
  • Impressive Literacy Growth: Our new Literacy program has delivered remarkable results, with students achieving an average of two years’ growth, and some classes reaching up to 4.53 years of progress in just one year!
  • On-Entry Assessments Success: Our youngest learners have made incredible strides in Reading and Speaking and Listening skills, lifting from below to above the state average.

Student Wellbeing and Behaviour

  • Positive Behaviour Success: An impressive 88% of recorded behaviours are positive, showcasing our strong school culture and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Improved Attendance: Regular attendance continues to trend upward, with notable reductions in both moderate and severe risk categories since 2022.
  • AEDC Gains: Over 90% of our students are now on track in physical health and social competence, reflecting significant improvement across key developmental areas.

Innovation in Learning

  • Digital Engagement: Our BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program has been embraced by 70% of students in Years 4-6, with Year 4 showing particularly high participation at 61%.
  • Parent Support: Parent information sessions reached record attendance, highlighting the community’s enthusiasm for our digital learning initiatives.

Community Engagement

  • Strong Parent Involvement: Parent participation in school events and activities has grown significantly, enriching our vibrant school culture.
  • Enhanced Learning Spaces: We’ve made exciting upgrades to our school environment, creating more engaging spaces for learning.
  • Staff Wellbeing Initiatives: Our staff have benefited from tailored professional development and support programs, ensuring they remain well-equipped and motivated.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate these successes, we’re also looking to the future with the launch of our new Business Plan, which focuses on:

  • Enhancing students’ social-emotional skills;
  • Supporting staff wellbeing;
  • Implementing a school-wide instructional model; and
  • Strengthening opportunities for staff collaboration.

Special Recognition

A huge thank you and congratulations go to our incredible teachers, Education Assistants, and all staff for their dedication and energy. Of course, none of this would be possible without the hard work and commitment of our amazing students. Special thanks also to Josh Wilson MP, whose kind words reflect the pride we all feel:

“Congratulations to you, the teachers, EAs, and staff, and of course the students, for such excellent results across so many areas. It is super impressive but not surprising, considering the commitment and energy you and your school community bring to the vital task of educating young people, and on creating for them a foundation of social and emotional wellbeing, connectedness to country, and to one another.”

As we wrap up the year, I hope the coming weeks are smooth and rewarding for everyone. May you all enjoy a well-deserved rest after such a busy and productive year. Here’s to an even brighter 2025!

Regards Aaron
