Dear Parents and Carers,
As we head into the final weeks of Term 1, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the fantastic things happening across our school and to reaffirm our collective purpose at Bibra Lake Primary School: to provide a quality education in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
This term, our staff have been working incredibly hard to ensure your children are engaged in high-impact learning experiences. We’ve continued to embed evidence-based programs like InitiaLit and MiniLit in the early years to strengthen foundational literacy, while also providing targeted support for students who need additional help. Across the school, teachers are using data-driven instruction and rich learning environments to support every learner’s growth.
We’ve recently completed NAPLAN for our Year 3 and 5 students. We were proud of the calm and confident way students approached the assessments, and we thank our staff for preparing students in a supportive, non-stressful way. Individual student reports will be provided to families later in the year, once they are made available to schools.
We’ve also been strengthening our commitment to student wellbeing. Our use of the Social Emotional Learning programs that we implement continues to empower students to better understand and manage their emotions. This is not just helping in the classroom but also contributing to positive behaviour and relationships in the playground and beyond. Funky Fun Friday, has become a highlight for many students. It’s designed to celebrate positive behaviour, build relationships across year levels, and give students a chance to engage in creative, fun activities as part of our whole-school wellbeing and positive behaviour approach.
It’s been great to see so many of you engaging with your child’s learning during the parent/teacher interviews earlier this term. We had an outstanding participation rate of over half of our families across the school. These early conversations are important in setting up strong partnerships and supporting student success throughout the year.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been refreshing our school website to make information easier to access for families, and we’ve streamlined communication through Connect to help you stay up to date with class and school events. Our recent P&C meeting was a great example of how our community is working together to enhance our school. Thank you to those who attended and for your continued support through fundraising, volunteering and ideas.
Our calendar is full of purposeful learning and community connection—from Harmony Day celebrations and assemblies, to targeted professional development for staff, and upcoming planning for Semester 1 reporting. We are constantly reviewing how we communicate and report student progress, based on your feedback and staff input.
We know that providing a quality education goes beyond academic achievement. It’s about fostering curiosity, confidence, and connection—and it’s a shared journey. Thank you for being part of it.
