National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science, curiosity and discovery. This year’s theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All, explored how small questions and ideas could grow into amazing discoveries.
In their science lessons, Years 1-6 students investigated seeds and flowers using the microscopes and magnifying glasses, making observations and developing their scientific thinking. We also investigated methods of seed dispersal.
Students had the opportunity to participate in a ‘Native Plant Hunt’ using the signs in Kaartdijin Koort, the garden in front of Kaartdijin Mia. Well done to all our budding botanists who participated!
Congratulations to our Science Week Award winners: Henry A, Sophie H, Ada E, Zachary H, Quinn C, Riley M and Indie C. Each winner received a science book and certificate to recognise their wonderful enthusiasm and curiosity for science.
We had a fun Science Trivia game in the science room during break times. Congratulations to our Science Trivia champions: Aria from Rm 6 (junior trivia) and Mia & Aria G from Rm 14 (senior trivia).
