YOUNG WRITERS

Young Writers

On the 7th of August we went to the Fremantle Prison. We all got our name tags, then dropped our bags down at a seat, next we  brought our pencils, erasers and books into the building and all sat down at a table. We met the author, Chenee Marrapodi, and she told us all about herself. She used to be a dancer when she was younger and she has loved it all her life. Chenee told us stories about her Italian heritage, she has written two books about dancing and she read us a bit of the book and it was a really good first bit. Chenee told us that her family lives in Italy and she said that Australia was a free opportunity to do anything we want. Her family wanted Chenee to live in Australia. Her family didn’t exactly want her to be a writer but she loves it and is glad she does it.

At break most people bought a book from the library and got their books signed by Chenee. We all wrote down stories, facts about ourself, and two truths and a lie. Before the next break, two girls and 1 boy went up the front to do a dance. One girl was blind folded, the other girl had to balance two books in her hands and the boy had to juggle a ball. This author was very fun because we got to do fun activities and we all really liked her.

Yesterday I went to the Fremantle Prison and was there to learn about an author called Chenee Marrapodi. Chenee has written two books about dancing. The first couple of hours we had to write what it takes to make a fiction story, Chenee let us read our sentence out if we wanted to.

After break we had a brain break and played Breaking Point, Bella was picked to go up and perform with two other people. It was a type of memory game where Chenee would call out something and they had to remember what to do when she said it. We also played 2 truths and a lie and this time Logan was picked, they had to read out their questions and we had to try guess what the lie was.

I had lots of fun at the Young Writers because I got to learn how to write better stories and had lots of fun with my friends. I can’t wait to go again and learn how to to write better stories.
